Title:  Managing Director of General Cargo Facilities                    

 

Summary:

 

Develop and maintain cargo business plan, working with all internal and external stakeholders.  The business plan ensures proper utilization and maintenance of all general cargo facilities.  Overall responsibility for Maintenance Department, Truck/Rail Office, Scheduling Office, and supervises a staff of three direct reports.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage rates, rules and requirements and recommend proactive changes based upon market conditions. 
  • Operating as a landlord, monitor terminal activities directly and through staff to ensure a safe and productive environment. 
  • Consult and assist other departments as needed or requested. 
  • Responsible for annual budget and quarterly reviews. 
  • Maintain emphasis on safety, security and environmental awareness. 
  • Manage activities through contractors such as trash disposal and pest control. 
  • Address customer inquiries or complaints in a responsive manner. 
  • Negotiate and manage contracts and freight handling assignments that promote fair competition to all users. 

 

Specification: 

  • College degree in Business or related field, preferred. 
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years extensive working knowledge of terminal operations and business principles. 
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to negotiate issues with all industry groups. 
  • Must have excellent organizational and presentation skills. 
  • Must be computer literate and competent using Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Must be able to secure a TWIC card within 90 days of employment date.
