Title:  International Accounting Manager

My Client is a manufacturing company based in North Houston.  They currently employ 300+ staff and have offices in the US, Europe, Middle East and South America.  To support their expansion, they are currently looking to hire a qualified, ambitious and hard-working individual who is interested in working in a fast-paced and exciting environment.

Description:

• The International Accounting Manager will provide support and assist with the coordination of the financial accounting and reporting activities for operations across their International companies.
• The person will play a critical role by working with accounting teams across international locations to facilitate timely and accurate financial reporting for statutory purposes. The position also supports the Controller in design and implementation of corporate accounting policies and procedures, internal controls and financial information systems. 
• The person will help coordinate efforts for tax accounting and reporting at International companies and assists in design and implementation of International tax strategies.
• To support the ongoing expansion, the International Accounting Manager will also assist in various operational tasks as well as assisting with the supervision of staff at corporate headquarters.
• The position may also require traveling.

Responsibilities:

• Proactively setup the international offices of the Mexico and Brazil operations. 
• Manage the financial accounting and reporting activities for these locations.
• Prepare analytical reviews and reporting packages for senior management including but not limited to P&L analysis, forecasting, cash flow forecasting, and related variance analyses. 
• Assist Corporate and Planning teams by providing actual results for financial modeling and collaborating in development of financial models. 
• Supervise inter-company accounting activities for multiple entities. 
• Assist in design and implementation of corporate accounting policies and procedures. 
• Assemble and review working papers for annual audit purposes, paying close attention to reporting requirements for the Mexican and Brazilian operations. 
• Resolve accounting and internal control issues related to the Mexican and Brazilian operations. 
• Improve timeliness and accuracy of financial closing and reporting for these locations. 
• Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 6 to 8 years combined experience in auditing, financial accounting and reporting within a Big Four environment as well as medium/large company, with a more operational role in finance or accounting. 
• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance with a strong academic record.
• International work experience and the ability to converse, read and write in Spanish or Portuguese is required.  Outstanding written and oral communication skills is also required. 
• Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including significant relevant experience with financial consolidations and reporting for multi-divisional entities. 
• Must have excellent understanding of complex accounting areas related to International operations such as accounting for leases, translation of foreign currency transactions, inventory accounting and accounting for inter-company transactions. 
• Must have excellent project management skills (workflow planning and management, people management and coaching, etc.). 
• Positive attitude with demonstrated desire and agility to work in a highly entrepreneurial environment that is both fast-paced and demanding. 
• Strong Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills, experience with business performance management systems, business intelligence software, and experience working and extracting information from various accounting platforms. 
• Experience in the setting up of international operations is a plus. 
• Ability to travel internationally, if necessary.
