Title:  Accountant, General Accounting

 

Under minimal guidance, the Accounting Manager performs a variety of high-level accounting functions at the Corporate office of this manufacturing company.  This position has a strong focus on General Accounting.  This includes performing complex account reconciliations, insuring accurate recognition and reporting of income and expense, ensuring compliance with GAAP, actively participates in internal and external auditor reviews and audits, and provides recommendations for accounting process improvements. The position also has a strong focus on Inventory and Intercompany Accounts.  Work is reviewed for overall completeness and soundness at a high level. Interacts with peers and managers within the finance group, others in plant and corporate roles and finance staff at international group locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and production of monthly financial accounts.  
  • Reconcile and analyze PL accounts (versus budget and forecast).
  • Liaise with Cost Control and Inventory Accountant and Budgeting and Planning Divisions. 
  • Work on successfully completing the month-end close including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals and financial statement preparation.
  • Prepare analysis, maintenance and reconciliation of Balance Sheet accounts.  
  • Oversee inter-company transactions and ensure that all inter-company accounts are in balance and reconciled on a monthly basis.   
  • Maintenance of various prepaid, fixed asset, capital and operating lease, accrual and debt accounts. 
  • Prepare analysis of monthly trends and variances.    
  • Work with external auditors to complete annual audit in a timely manner.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and perform special projects as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or business related discipline. 
  • A minimum of 7-10 years working experience (and maximum 15 years) is required in medium to large corporations and/or manufacturing environments. 
  • At least 3 years supervisory experience is required, including supervising an A/R team.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with Big 4.
  • Preference will also be given to candidates with CPA certification. 
  • Highly proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.  Experience with JD Edwards and Cognos is desirable but not required. 
  • Candidates must be detail oriented with strong experience preparing financial reports for a manufacturing and/or similar type company.  
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
